Women and Politics

Last night a professor here on campus that teaches women and gender classes, came and gave a presentation on Women and Politics. It was very interesting to see how women are still downgraded in politics today. The widely considered benchmark for women’s representation in politics is 30%. The United States is much lower than that. We also talked about how the media sometimes focuses more on what women are wearing than what they are saying. These were surprising because we as American’s say that America is so great but we don’t have gender equality. So next time before you say something like that, look around and really think about it. We as a nation need to take little steps towards accomplishing something and it all starts with YOU.
